Katimavik 22175: June 2012

Hello Katima-world!

Here is a big update about our katima-life! Many events have happened and the program is almost ending. It's been quite a busy time because we have a lot of stuff to do! We are having lots of fun at the same time being with each other! We are like a big family! We have to clean up and shut down the house, but meanwhile we have been very productive!

You can read the Final PL blog post. Although our katima-adventure is terminating soon, we have had accomplished many things in Sioux Lookout and have learned many lessons in this community. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us and the program itself!

We have done a lot of community clean ups in Sioux Lookout. We have probably done at least three clean ups. Here some photos from our first clean up at Pelican Lake!

We helped serve dinner and many other tasks that were assigned to us throughout this event from the evening until the morning!

Community Collective Project at the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Heath Centre.

The group decorated the Memory Garden and trail for all patients and visitors in the community!

Sharon Yule is the Volunteer Coordinator of the hospital. Thanks to her, we were able to have a successful project!

We have been to the dump due to our shut down of the house, we have seen many bears and eagles!

Our Farewell Party. We have been busy non-stop from Thursday to Monday, June 4! From the Fair to the Relay for Life, from the Relay for life to the CCP, and from the CCP to the Farewell Party! It has been such an accomplishment and success!

During our Sioux Lookout rotation, we have had two members leave. We would like to give a special thanks to them for making a difference in our Katimavik experience. They are very missed and we wish they aspire great things after Katimavik!
